Elizabeth Vanatta was born in Arlington, Virginia. She moved to Colorado in 1997 and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. While at the University of Colorado, Mrs. Vanatta competed nationally with the Mock Trial team, volunteered locally with the non-profit Colorado Public Interest Research Group, and worked on city planning issues with the Boulder County Attorney’s Office. Mrs. Vanatta attended law school at the University of San Diego in California, where she competed nationally with the Moot Court team and clerked for Court of Appeals Judge Richard D. Huffman. During her tenure in law school, she also worked for the Law Office of William Bramley, handling construction defect, real estate, and probate matters, in addition to working with clients in estate planning and business transaction matters.
After graduating from law school in 2013, Mrs. Vanatta served as a Deputy District Attorney for the 16th Judicial District Office of the District Attorney in La Junta, Colorado, where she worked on homicide and felony matters on grant from the Colorado Department of Corrections, before moving into county court to handle a misdemeanor case load. Mrs. Vanatta then served as a Deputy District Attorney for the 4th Judicial District Office of the District Attorney in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she handled a large load of misdemeanor and felony cases, including homicides, robberies, and drug felonies. To date, Mrs. Vanatta has taken over 40 cases to jury trial.
Mrs. Vanatta is an accomplished triathlete and runner. She loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking Colorado’s many fourteen thousand foot peaks with her husband.
